Series: Gensoumaden Saiyuki
Character: Son Goku
Timeline: About midway into the first season, mid-Homura arc. (Though, this is the only anime-Canon that I pull from; the rest is manga-verse.)

Personality: Goku is the epitome of the word 'fun'. Always playful and cheerful, his instinct is to do what makes him happy. Mostly, this includes eating and fighting, and occasionally picking around with Gojyo. He is fiercely loyal - especially to Sanzo - and will do anything for the people he cares about, whether it be his friends or people in a town that have treated him kindly. He's the kid of the group, and is at times somewhat naive and immature. He has his moments of clarity, though, and can be fairly insightful.

As the Seiten Taisei, he is very cold-blooded. He only has one thought, and that is to kill. It doesn't matter who is in his way: it could be the enemy, it could be an innocent bystander, or it could even be one of his friends. It doesn't matter to him, he will mow down anything in his path when he is in this form. As the Seiten Taisei, he also has increased durability, speed, agility and strength. Aware of what he becomes, Goku only removes his diadem and changes to his Seiten Taisei form when absolutely necessary, though several times his diadem has broken due to extreme stress or emotion. Genjyo Sanzo seems to be the only one (besides the Gods) that can recreate his diadem and restore him to his less insane form.

Background: Goku is a child of the earth, born from the rocks where the earth's aura gathered together. He was shortly thereafter found by the Gods and brought to Heaven. In his stay there, he committed a crime and was imprisioned inside a cave for 500 years. During this time, he did not age, and he forgot all memories of what had happened, even his memories of being in Heaven in the first place. Sanzo constantly "heard" his pleas for freedom, and came to the mountain to make him shut up. As a result, he ended up releasing him from his cave prison. Goku idolized Sanzo, and followed him around for many years.

While Goku was still young, Sanzo accepted a mission to track down a murderer known as Cho Gonou. He and Goku set off in search of the man, and found him living with a man named Sha Gojyo. After a brief fight, Gonou took off with Sanzo's handgun, pleading for more time. They came across Gonou, who was in confrontation with a youkai and had already pulled out one of his own eyes. Goku managed to stop the man before he destroyed his other eye, and the youkai was defeated. After a few events, Sanzo took Gonou back to the temple for punishment. As punishment, Cho Gonou was to be "killed" for his crimes, and as his second chance at life, he assumed the name of Cho Hakkai. He became somewhat of a tutor for Goku, travelling to the temple occasionally to teach the boy.

Several years down the road, Sanzo was ordered by the Gods to travel west and stop the ressurection of Gyuumaoh, the Ox King youkai that had been defeated 500 years in the past. A band of youkai were trying to revive him by mixing science and demonic magic, the result being the Minus Wave, which swept across the land and drove normally peaceful youkai into a violent rage. The gods also ordered him to bring along three companions: Goku, Gojyo and Hakkai. This began their infamous Journey to the West.

Sample Journal Post: Uhh, is this thing on?

[A finger comes up to tap the screen; the face behind the hand is staring somewhat confusedly.]

A-ahh, uhh...Sanzo? Are you out there somewhere? Hakkai? Gojyo?

...man, what happened to this place? It looks completely trashed! Where is this...? Can't be the forest...

[A muffled noise comes from offscreen. His head turns sharply, his perplexed expression turns into one of wide-eyed shock.]

Oh shit! What the hell is that thing!?

Sample RP: "Ugh..." Goku sat up, rubbing his head. "The hell happened? Right in the middle of dinner, too..."

Opening one golden eye, he continued to rub his aching head as he surveyed the surroundings. "Man, what the hell? We were in the middle of the woods! Where did this city come from? ...ugh, my head..."

He stood slowly, using Nyoi-bo as support as he steadied himself. He had fallen in the middle of a street littered with rubble and debris. This place didn't look at all like anywhere he had been before. Was he in the west already? And where was Sanzo? He scanned the visible area for any hint of gold, but only found a bunch of trashed-looking buildings and...was that a kitten?

Goku sighed miserably. "Well, wherever I am, I guess I got separated...better go look for Sanzo!" He began to walk, but kicked something with his first step, and it sure didn't feel like a rock. Looking down, he noticed a device of some sort. "Huh? What's this?" He bent down and picked the device up, looking it over briefly. "Well...doesn't seem edible."

The device made a quiet 'beep', and the screen flashed into existance. Goku's eyes widened. "Ohh! This must be some sort of communication thing! Maybe Sanzo has one, too!" He stared at it blankly for a moment, figuring out minutes later that he could record himself on it.

"Uhh...is this thing on?"
