| Son Goku is a heretical creature, born from the aura of the Earth and imprisoned in a cave for five hundred years for crimes he cannot remember. When Sanzo was dispatched by the gods to journey west and stop the youkai from reviving Gyuumaoh -- and in the process, halting the Minus Wave, which was a by-product of the illegal mixing of human science and youkai magic and drove formerly peaceful youkai to slaughter humans -- Goku accompanied him, along with the demon Cho Hakkai and the half-demon Sha Gojyo. Goku is the epitome of the word 'fun'. It's in his nature to be fun-loving and curious. He'll often be seen goofing around with Gojyo, or helping out people in whatever village they stop for the night. He also has a voracious appetite, seemingly from being imprisoned for 500 years with no food. Goku is a skilled fighter. He is kept in human form with a golden power limiter that he wears as a band on his head. When this is removed, he reverts to his Seiten Taisei form, and is unable to distinguish friend from foe. When in this form, he has heightened agility, dexterity and strength, and is hard to take down. The only one (besides the Gods) that seems to be able to restore the limiter and bring him back to his human form is Sanzo. In the anime and manga, Goku is seen as a monster rather than a demon, and doesn't seem able to die, no matter how brutally he's beaten or how long he goes without food. He's a bottomless pit for food, and extremely affectionate and loyal, especially to Sanzo. He has no parents, and Sanzo acts as a guardian to him. Goku is very attached to Sanzo and if Sanzo ever gets hurt, Goku tends to lose it, usually resulting in at the very least an increase in his power, but sometimes it goes as far as his power limiter breaking, sending him into his Seiten Taisei form. |
